Mitsubishi in Mountain View
Mountain View is one of our steadier Mitsubishi markets, and the reason is the housing. A lot of Old Mountain View around the downtown core was built heat-only, gas furnace, no central cooling. When a homeowner wants AC added and the original ductwork is too tight or too compromised to carry the extra airflow, a Mitsubishi mini-split is usually the better answer than tearing into the house. One compact outdoor condenser feeds one or two indoor heads, and each room gets its own control.
The other half of our Mitsubishi work here is ADU and garage conversions. Since the state streamlined ADU permitting, we put in a lot of single-zone units, typically a 12,000 or 18,000 BTU/h head, sized to the room with our calculator rather than guessed by square footage. Mitsubishi is the cleaner fit for that because the M-Series single-zone equipment is reliable, quiet, and Title 24 compliant out of the box.
There is a real tradeoff to be straight about. Mitsubishi sits at the premium end on price. If a Mountain View home already has good ducts and just needs a condenser-and-coil add to an existing furnace, a conventional ducted system is often the cheaper route and we will say so on the estimate. Where Mitsubishi earns its cost is the ductless and multi-zone work, and in this city a good share of the cooling retrofits we do go that way.
Mitsubishi work we do in Mountain View
Single-head mini-splits for ADUs and converted garages. Most ADU work here is one Mitsubishi M-Series outdoor unit and one wall or ceiling-cassette head, sized per room. We route the line set cleanly, set the condenser where it stays quiet and serviceable, and leave a system that meets Title 24 without a separate ducted plan.
AC retrofits into heat-only Old Mountain View homes. For 1940s through 60s ranches with no cooling, we add a Mitsubishi multi-zone so the original gas furnace can stay if the homeowner wants it. One condenser feeds heads in the living areas and primary bedroom, which avoids forcing cooling air through ducts that were never sized for it.
Multi-zone diagnostics and head replacement. On existing Mitsubishi multi-zone systems we troubleshoot a head that stops cooling while the others keep running, usually a communication fault, a clogged condensate pump, or a failed indoor PCB. We carry common pumps and bring the controls knowledge to read the fault codes correctly.
Annual cleaning on mini-split heads. Ductless heads in occupied rooms collect dust on the blower wheel and coil, and a dirty wheel quietly drops capacity. We deep-clean the heads and check refrigerant charge, which matters more on mini-splits than people expect because there is no oversized duct system masking a low charge.
