Heil in Mountain View
Heil is ICP's value line, the same hardware as Tempstar and Comfortmaker under a different name. In Mountain View it fits the homes that already have usable ductwork: the 1990s and newer stock where a ducted Heil furnace or heat pump is a sensible value replacement. The marine-mild summers here, with morning fog, keep cooling loads modest, so we size these systems small and a right-sized Heil unit runs efficiently.
The catch is that a large share of Old Mountain View around the downtown core was built heat-only, gas furnace and no central AC, with tight original ducts. On those houses a ducted Heil AC retrofit is often the wrong call. The existing ducts frequently cannot carry the added cooling airflow, and forcing it through undersized ducts gives you noise and poor performance. We are upfront that a ductless mini-split is usually the cleaner answer on these homes, and Heil is a ducted brand, not a mini-split line, so we steer you to the right equipment rather than the brand.
Where Heil does earn its place is straight ducted replacements and the AC-add on homes whose ductwork genuinely supports it. It is value-tier, built to a price, with parts that cross over the whole ICP family for cheap, fast repairs. For ADU and garage conversions, which are a real share of local work, we do not use Heil at all. Those are single-head mini-split jobs.
Heil work we do in Mountain View
Ducted replacements on 1990s and newer stock. On Mountain View homes that already have sound ductwork, a right-sized Heil furnace or heat pump is a solid value replacement. Mild summers keep cooling loads small, so we size to a Manual J load and avoid the oversizing that is the common local mistake.
AC-add where the ducts support it. Some heat-only homes have ducts that can handle added cooling. On those we add a Heil condenser and coil to the existing system. We test the duct's airflow capacity first and tell you honestly whether it works or whether a mini-split is the better path.
Mini-split steering when ducts cannot carry cooling. When Old Mountain View ducts cannot carry cooling air, we do not force a ducted Heil unit. We recommend a ductless mini-split per room instead. Heil does not make our mini-split lineup, so this is a brand-neutral call based on what your house needs.
ICP-family board and motor repair. On existing Heil systems, board and ECM motor failures are the usual repairs. The parts cross over with Tempstar and Comfortmaker, so sourcing is fast and we carry common ones on the truck.
