LG in Mountain View
Mountain View produces a lot of the exact work LG ductless equipment is built for. ADUs and garage conversions have been a meaningful share of local jobs since California eased its ADU rules at the start of 2020, and the default install for one of those is a single compact mini-split: one outdoor unit, one or two indoor heads, full independent climate control. LG's ductless line fits that job, and the ThinQ app control matches the expectations of this tech-heavy market. For a design-conscious ADU or a home office, the Art Cool head is a reasonable pick at a price below the premium Japanese brands.
The other big pattern here is the no-AC retrofit. A large share of Old Mountain View housing was built with heat only, because the mild marine summers made cooling optional. Warming summers and daytime remote work have changed that, and we retrofit cooling in two ways: a condenser-and-coil add to the existing furnace where the ducts can carry the airflow, or a ductless mini-split where they cannot. The mini-split is the cleaner answer more often than not in these old, tight-ducted homes, and that is where LG fits well.
On full ducted heat pump replacements in the 1990s-and-newer stock, LG is an option but not always our first spec; we lean Daikin or Goodman on ducted work for parts and training depth. And the LG caveat is worth repeating here: it is electronics-forward, so a fault usually traces to a sensor, an inverter board, or a communication error rather than a quick mechanical fix. Mountain View's mild climate keeps the hardware from working hard, so units last, but the repairs that show up are on the electronic side.
LG work we do in Mountain View
Single-zone mini-splits for ADUs and garage conversions. The standard ADU install here is one LG mini-split: a compact outdoor unit and one indoor head, sized per room at the estimate. Independent climate control, no tie-in to the main house system required. We handle the load calculation so the unit matches the room rather than oversizing it.
Ductless cooling retrofits in no-AC homes. For Old Mountain View homes built with heat only, we add cooling with LG ductless when the original ducts are too compromised to handle the added airflow. It avoids reworking tight 1940s to 60s ductwork and gives room-by-room control.
Multi-zone setups for home offices. Remote-work households often want one or two rooms conditioned independently of the rest of the house. We install LG multi-zone systems off a single outdoor unit so a home office stays comfortable without overcooling the whole home.
Electronics-driven repairs. When an LG system shows a fault code, we diagnose at the board: thermistors, the inverter PCB, indoor-to-outdoor communication. We source the specific LG part rather than guessing at mechanical causes that usually are not the issue.
