Fujitsu in Mountain View
A large share of original Mountain View housing, especially around Old Mountain View, was built with gas heat and no central AC. Mild marine summers used to make cooling optional, but warming summers and daytime remote-work occupancy have changed that. When the existing ducts are too compromised to handle added cooling airflow, a Fujitsu Halcyon mini-split is the cleaner retrofit: one outdoor unit, indoor heads where you need them, no opening up walls to rebuild ducts. Mini-split is the right answer for these homes more often than not.
The other big driver here is ADUs. Mountain View has been ADU-friendly since the 2020 state streamlining laws, and a meaningful share of our local work is HVAC for new accessory units and converted garages. A single-zone Fujitsu head is a common default for that job: a compact outdoor unit, one indoor head, and independent climate control for the unit. Fujitsu Halcyon is a premium ductless line that competes with Mitsubishi, so for an ADU you want done right, it is a solid choice. We size and select the equipment so the install meets Title 24 for the project.
We are straight about the tradeoffs. Fujitsu is premium, and on a tight ADU budget a value brand may make more sense, which we will say. Service parts can also take longer to source than the domestic brands. And Mountain View's marine-mild summers, with design cooling around the high 80s, keep loads small, so we size the unit to the actual space rather than overselling tonnage.
Fujitsu work we do in Mountain View
Single-head Halcyon for ADUs and garage conversions. The bread-and-butter Fujitsu job in Mountain View is a single-zone mini-split for a new ADU or converted garage. One outdoor unit, one indoor head, and independent climate control for the unit. We size it per room rather than defaulting to the biggest unit on the shelf, and we select equipment that meets Title 24 for the project.
AC retrofits into heat-only homes. Old Mountain View homes built with furnace heat and no AC are a steady source of ductless work. When the existing ducts can't carry added cooling, a Fujitsu mini-split adds real cooling per room without a duct rebuild. Where the ducts are sound, we will instead add a coil and condenser to the existing furnace and say so.
Multi-zone installs for whole-home cooling add. For larger heat-only homes that want cooling throughout, a multi-zone Fujitsu Halcyon runs several indoor heads off one outdoor unit. We balance the zones so the marine-mild climate's small loads are matched correctly and the system isn't oversized.
Halcyon diagnostics and refrigerant checks. On existing Fujitsu units we clear condensate drains, chase sensor and board faults, and pressure-test the line set for slow leaks rather than just recharging. We flag any Fujitsu-specific part that needs ordering so the repair timeline is clear.
