Bosch in Mountain View
A real share of original Mountain View housing, especially the 1940s to 60s ranches around the downtown core, was built with heat only and no central AC. Mild marine summers used to make cooling optional, but warming summers and daytime remote-work occupancy have changed the math. Where the existing ducts can carry the added cooling airflow, a Bosch ducted inverter heat pump is a clean way to add AC and electrify heat in one project, and its modulating performance suits the light marine load without short-cycling.
When the original ducts are too tight or compromised to handle cooling, which is common in the older stock, the answer is usually ductless instead, and on mini-splits we tend toward Mitsubishi or Daikin rather than Bosch. Same story on the ADU and garage-conversion work that makes up a meaningful slice of our Mountain View jobs: those are single-head mini-split projects, not a place Bosch's ducted-inverter strength comes into play. We will be straight about that rather than push a Bosch where another system installs cleaner.
On the newer infill developments north of downtown, homes are already code-built with full ducted HVAC, and those are the strongest Bosch candidates for an inverter upgrade. The honest caveat across all of it is parts: Bosch moves slower through local distribution than Carrier, so we plan lead time on non-stock boards into any repair and say so before you pick the brand.
Bosch work we do in Mountain View
First-time AC plus electrification on heat-only ranches. On Old Mountain View homes built with heat only, we add cooling where the ducts support it by converting to a Bosch ducted inverter heat pump. If the original ducts cannot carry the added airflow, we say so and steer toward ductless instead, which is the cleaner path on a good share of the older stock.
Bosch inverter swaps on newer code-built homes. The newer infill homes already have full ducted HVAC, which makes them clean Bosch upgrade candidates. We size to the actual marine-mild load with a Manual J and design the new system around R-454B.
Line set inspection and right-sizing. Mountain View's mild summers mean equipment usually sizes smaller than homeowners expect. We run the load calculation and inspect the existing refrigerant line set on every retrofit, confirming whether it can be flushed and reused before any work starts.
Inverter fault diagnostics with realistic parts timing. Bosch faults typically trace to the inverter board or a sensor rather than the compressor. We diagnose to the failed part and order it. Because Bosch is not always local stock, we are upfront about a day or two of lead time on the less common parts.
