Carrier in Mountain View
Carrier fits a specific slice of Mountain View work. The newer Mariposa and Cuesta Park infill homes already have full ducted HVAC, and when one of those systems is due for replacement, a Carrier Infinity variable-speed heat pump or AC is a strong match. The Infinity line modulates capacity, which pairs well with the mild cooling load in this part of the South Bay. You rarely need the full output on a foggy August morning, so a variable-speed compressor runs at low stages instead of cycling hard.
In Old Mountain View it is a different story. A lot of those 1940s through 60s starter ranches were built for heat only, with tight ducts and no cooling. Dropping a premium ducted Carrier system into ductwork that cannot carry the added cooling airflow is the wrong move. Most of the time we steer those homes to a ductless mini-split instead, and Carrier is a ducted-first brand, so for the no-AC bungalows we usually point to other equipment. Where the ducts are sound and the home wants a high-end ducted replacement, Carrier earns its place.
For ADU and garage conversions, which are a real share of our Mountain View calls, Carrier is not the answer. Those are single-head mini-split jobs. We will tell you that plainly rather than oversize a ducted system for an 800-square-foot space.
Carrier work we do in Mountain View
Carrier Infinity heat pump replacements on post-2000 stock. On newer Mountain View homes with sound ductwork, we replace aging gas furnaces and ACs with Infinity variable-speed heat pumps. We run a Manual J load calculation first so the system is sized to the actual mild cooling load, not the nameplate tonnage of the old equipment, which is usually oversized.
Condenser-and-coil AC adds where ducts support it. Some original homes have ducts good enough to carry added cooling airflow. In those cases we add a Carrier condenser and matching evaporator coil to the existing furnace. We test static pressure before quoting so you are not buying cooling the ducts cannot deliver.
Infinity control and thermostat diagnostics. Carrier's Infinity communicating control is the brain of the system, and it is also where a lot of service calls land. We diagnose comfort-control faults and communication dropouts between the indoor and outdoor units, and we stock the common boards.
Coil and refrigerant work on installed Carrier systems. On systems out of parts warranty we handle evaporator coil leaks, refrigerant recharge after leak repair, and condensate drain clogs that the marine-layer humidity feeds. Diagnostic is $75, credited toward any repair over $200.
