Carrier in Palo Alto
Palo Alto homeowners tend to want efficient, name-brand equipment, which is the part of the market Carrier is built for. On the post-2000 luxury infill across Midtown and Barron Park, and on the Spanish revival and Mediterranean stock in Old Palo Alto and Crescent Park where ducted systems already run, a Carrier Infinity variable-speed heat pump is a clean answer that passes inspection without a fight. The marine-influenced climate here is among the mildest in the South Bay, so the Infinity's modulating capacity runs at low stage most of the time, which is exactly where variable-speed equipment is quietest and most efficient.
The Eichlers are the honest exception. Palo Alto has one of the largest concentrations of Eichler homes anywhere, and those post-and-beam, open-ceiling homes rule out conventional ductwork. Carrier is ducted-first, so for Eichlers in Greer Park, Greenmeadow and the Royal Manor tracts we install multi-head ductless mini-splits instead, positioned to preserve the open-ceiling architecture. We have done a number of Eichler retrofits and the approach is well worked out. We will tell an Eichler owner plainly that a ducted Carrier system is not the right tool.
Palo Alto's municipal utility, CPAU, has historically run its own heat pump incentives, and many replacement projects qualify for some level of rebate. We verify CPAU eligibility on every Palo Alto estimate and handle the paperwork, whether the project lands on a ducted Carrier system or a ductless retrofit.
Carrier work we do in Palo Alto
Carrier Infinity heat pump installs on ducted stock. On Midtown, Barron Park and Old Palo Alto homes with existing ductwork, we install Infinity variable-speed heat pumps. The mild cooling load lets the system run mostly at low stage, which is where it is quietest and most efficient. Title 24 high-efficiency compliance handled.
Installs that respect heritage architecture. Much of Palo Alto's stock is preserved older homes where HVAC has to work inside existing layouts. We route and place a Carrier system to respect the architecture and pass inspection clean, which matters to Palo Alto owners and the city's review process.
Ductless for the Eichler tracts. For Eichler homes, a ducted Carrier system does not fit the post-and-beam ceilings. We install multi-head ductless mini-splits positioned to preserve the open-ceiling look, and we tell Eichler owners that up front.
CPAU rebate filing and Infinity service. We verify CPAU heat pump eligibility on every estimate and handle the application. On installed Carrier systems we service Infinity controls and coils; diagnostic is $75, credited toward any repair over $200.
