Fujitsu in Los Altos
Los Altos is large-lot ranch territory, mostly 1950s to 80s single-family homes that have been added onto and popped up over decades as owners stay and grow in place. The recurring pattern we walk into is a house whose original HVAC was never resized when the footprint changed, leaving at least one room that has always run hot. That is where Fujitsu ductless fits cleanly. Halcyon is a strong mini-split line, and a single head sized to a problem room solves what the central system structurally cannot.
For the main house, the Los Altos default is dual-zone ducted equipment sized per floor or per wing, and Daikin is the most-installed central brand we put in here. Fujitsu comes in as the supplement: a dedicated head for a converted garage office or a second-story pop-up where running new ducts up to it would be a major project. Rather than upsize the central system to chase one space, which wastes capacity and hurts dehumidification, we re-run the load on the current floor plan and often recommend a ductless head for the rooms the ducts never properly reached.
When the whole central system is due, a ducted heat pump conversion usually remains the better value because the ducts already exist, and we will say so plainly. We bring in Fujitsu where ductless genuinely answers the problem.
Fujitsu work we do in Los Altos
Supplemental heads for the always-hot room. We re-run Manual J on the current floor plan, find the room the original system was never sized for, and put a dedicated Fujitsu head on it. It runs independent of the central system, so you fix the one room without overcooling the rest of the house.
Ductless for pop-ups and additions. Second-story pop-ups and rear additions often have no practical duct path from the existing system. A single- or multi-zone Halcyon conditions the new space cleanly. We confirm the panel can carry it before the install.
Garage-office and ADU conditioning. Converted garages and home offices on these lots usually have no HVAC. A single Fujitsu head sized to the space handles it without touching the main system, and on these quieter streets the low outdoor noise is a real plus near a neighbor's lot line.
Service on existing Fujitsu systems. On the supplemental single-head setups common in Los Altos, the usual calls are a head that has lost charge over time and a blower wheel that fouls and starts to smell. We pressure-test for leaks before topping off, verify the charge, and deep-clean the head rather than masking the symptom.
