You may want heat-pump cooling and heating while keeping a gas furnace. Mitsubishi intelli-HEAT is designed for that arrangement: a heat pump works with a compatible furnace and the home’s ductwork. It is a hybrid system, with electricity and gas available as heat sources.
What changes, and what stays
The intelli-HEAT coil and controls form part of a matched combination with the outdoor equipment and furnace. The furnace continues to have a heating role. This differs from an all-electric air-handler replacement, where the new air handler takes the furnace’s place.
Mitsubishi’s Intelligent Switchover can change from heat-pump heating to furnace heat automatically. One trigger Mitsubishi describes is indoor temperature not being maintained in extreme cold; the switchover can also be set to favor efficiency. It does not mean every existing furnace will accept an intelli-HEAT installation.
Compatibility comes before the quote
Mitsubishi limits connections to furnaces meeting ANSI-Z21.47/CSA2.3 certification. That’s an equipment requirement, not a credential we claim for our company. We check the actual furnace and proposed equipment pairing before quoting a hybrid conversion.
At the free installation assessment, we’ll review furnace condition, the coil location and cabinet space, ducts and return airflow, controls, electrical supply and condensate drainage. We’ll also discuss where the outdoor unit and refrigerant lines can go. Bring the model information for the existing furnace if you have it.
If retaining the furnace is your priority, say so. If the aim is to remove gas heating, we should compare an all-electric design instead. Either decision needs a written scope that states which equipment stays and which parts are replaced.
Price and coverage for the proposed combination
Our $5,500–9,000 per-room range applies to Mitsubishi ductless installations; it isn’t a flat price for intelli-HEAT. Your assessment is free, and the written quote prices the selected hybrid combination and installation work. Financing available on approved credit.
We’re an independent Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Contractor. Eligible M-Series and P-Series systems registered by us within 90 days have 12-year parts and 12-year compressor limited coverage. The HM, WR, HX and WX wall-mounted exceptions are capped at 10 years. The extended manufacturer tier requires the original purchaser to live in the single-family home and cannot transfer; labor is excluded. We verify the quoted Mitsubishi equipment’s eligibility. Coverage for the retained furnace is separate from this Mitsubishi limited warranty. Our workmanship warranty is 2 years, with optional purchased JB Warranties labor coverage up to 12 years.
