Goodman in Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay is the anchor of our Coastside coverage, and that includes Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada up Highway 1, not just the city itself. The coast here runs cooler and foggier than anywhere else on the Peninsula, so heating carries most of the load year-round and AC is often a lower priority than it is even a few miles inland toward Highway 92.
Salt air is the real factor in what fails and how often. Goodman condensers out here corrode faster than the same unit would three miles inland, especially anything sitting within a half mile or so of the water, and that includes homes near Main Street and around the harbor at Pillar Point. Goodman doesn't build a coastal-coated coil the way a couple of premium brands do, and I tell people that plainly at the estimate. For most Coastside homes it's still the right value choice. For a property right on the bluff or close to the harbor where salt exposure is worst, a coastal-rated premium condenser earns its price back in fewer years of added service life.
We're based in San Ramon but keep a technician on the Peninsula now, in San Mateo County, so the Coastside gets a local response instead of a haul over Highway 92.

Coastal corrosion on outdoor condenser coils and cabinets. Salt air eats through condenser fins and cabinet coating faster here than anywhere else we service. On Goodman units close to the water, in Half Moon Bay, Moss Beach, and El Granada, we see corroded coils and rusted cabinet panels well before the equipment's mechanical parts are actually worn out. Rinsing the coil periodically slows it down but doesn't stop it.
Heating-dominant sizing on Coastside homes. It's a quick fix when it's just the capacitor. We check the rest of the electrical compartment for corrosion while we're in there, since one failed part in that environment is often a sign more are close behind.
