LG in Half Moon Bay
Half Moon Bay's climate is mild and foggy most of the year, so an LG ductless system here is rarely about beating a heat wave the way it is inland. The bigger driver is older beach cottages and farmhouses near the Main Street restaurants and around the harbor that were never built with ducted heating or cooling at all. A single-zone or multi-zone LG system fits those houses without tearing into a home that was never designed for ductwork.
Salt air off the ocean corrodes an unprotected outdoor condenser faster here than it would ten miles inland, in Half Moon Bay itself and up the coast through Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada. We think about how close the outdoor unit sits to open air and place or shield it accordingly, since a compressor cabinet exposed to salt spray degrades a lot faster than the same unit set back from the water.
The marine layer also means more moisture in the air most days, so we pay closer attention to condensate drainage and line-set insulation on a Coastside install than we would on a drier inland job. Our Peninsula-based technician covers the whole Coastside, so the drive out from San Ramon isn't part of the equation the way it used to be.
LG work we do in Half Moon Bay
Corrosion-aware condenser placement. Salt air near the harbor and along Main Street eats at an exposed outdoor coil faster than inland conditions do. We look at wind direction and distance from the water before deciding where the LG condenser goes, and shield it where we can.
Ductless retrofits in older Coastside cottages. Many of the older homes in Half Moon Bay, Montara, and El Granada were built without any ducted system. We install LG single-zone heads sized to the rooms that need heating or cooling instead of forcing ductwork into a house that was never built for it.
Condensate line pitch in the marine layer. Persistent fog and damp air mean a poorly pitched condensate line holds water longer out here than it would inland, and that backup shows up as a drip inside the wall or a shutdown code on the head. We check the pitch and re-slope the line on every Coastside service call where drainage is the complaint.
