Half Moon Bay rarely sees a hot day. Summer highs mostly sit in the mid-70s, the morning fog off the water can hang on past noon, and a lot of homes get more use out of the heating side of a Rheem system than the cooling side all year. That changes how I size equipment here compared to an inland city: the AC still has to be adequate for the occasional warm September afternoon, but the heat pump or furnace is doing the real work, and that is where I put the sizing attention.

Houses set back on higher ground past Highway 1 hold up a little longer, but salt air still reaches them, just more slowly.
