Gree in Half Moon Bay
Gree builds HVAC equipment for a long list of brands worldwide, and its own-name mini-splits are the value ductless line, priced under Mitsubishi and Daikin. We're the anchor of service for the whole Coastside out of Half Moon Bay, covering Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada along with Half Moon Bay itself, since all of it faces the same coastal exposure and the same older housing stock, cottages and ranch homes strung along Highway 1 and back into the hills toward Skyline.
The fog here keeps the cooling load lower than almost anywhere else we work. A Half Moon Bay Gree head rarely runs hard for air conditioning, but it earns its keep on the heating side, since the damp coastal winters make a heat pump worth having even in a house that's never needed AC. The bigger factor on the Coastside isn't heat load, it's the air itself. Salt off the ocean corrodes an outdoor condenser's coil fins and electrical contacts faster here than fifteen miles inland, and that's true of any brand, not just Gree.
Gree's value line uses the same basic coil coating as most budget ductless equipment, which is thinner protection against salt air than what the coastal-rated premium units offer. I still install Gree on the Coastside when the budget calls for it, but I place the condenser to avoid direct onshore wind and spray where the lot allows it, and I set the expectation that a coastal Gree unit needs a coil rinse more often than one fifteen miles inland. We're part of the ADRIUM Service Solutions family, an independent shop, CSLB #1136642, EPA 608 certified, and every job here gets a written quote before we touch anything.
Gree work we do in Half Moon Bay
Salt-air coil inspection and rinse. Outdoor units anywhere from Montara to El Granada take a beating from salt in the air that a Danville or Belmont system never sees. We inspect the coil fins and electrical contacts on Coastside Gree units for corrosion and rinse the coil with fresh water on a schedule, which slows the damage but doesn't stop it entirely.
Single-zone heads for Main Street area cottages. The older cottages near downtown and the harbor were built without central air and sometimes without much heat either. A Gree single-zone head added to a bedroom or a converted sunporch handles both, sized to the room since the fog keeps the actual cooling need modest even in July.
Corrosion-related electrical and refrigerant line faults. On the Coastside we see Gree units fail from corroded contacts at the outdoor unit and from flare fittings that develop a leak sooner than they would inland, well before the compressor itself gives out. We check those connections first on any coastal service call, pressure-test the line, and reflare with fresh fittings rather than reusing corroded ones.
