Half Moon Bay is the hub for the whole Coastside, and we cover the unincorporated communities strung along Highway 1 with it, Montara, Moss Beach, and El Granada, all the way down through downtown and the harbor. The climate out here is its own thing. Fog and onshore wind keep summers cool, so almost nobody needs real cooling, but the damp cold in winter makes heating the bigger job. Main Street's restaurants and the shops around Pillar Point Harbor run on the same coastal air as every home here, and that air is the reason Comfort-Aire needs extra care on this coast that it doesn't need inland.
Salt air corrodes outdoor equipment faster than anywhere else we work. A Comfort-Aire condenser sited close to the water or facing straight into the onshore wind shows coil and cabinet corrosion years before the same unit would inland in San Ramon or Danville. I don't put a unit where I can avoid that exposure, and where I can't avoid it, I tell the homeowner honestly what that means for how long it'll hold up.
For a beach cottage adding a heat-and-cool head to one room, or a small office near the harbor needing a standalone unit, Comfort-Aire still makes sense on price. For a full home on the water side of Highway 1 fighting salt exposure every day, I'd rather talk through a coastal-rated option built for that environment before we commit to the value tier.
