Amana in Half Moon Bay

Half Moon Bay is a heating town more than a cooling town, and that's the first thing I explain to anyone comparing notes with a friend inland. The fog holds summer temperatures down along the whole Coastside, so a lot of the older homes near Main Street and the harbor were built with a wall heater and nothing else, no ductwork, no AC, because for decades nobody here needed it. What I do see a steady stream of is aging wall heaters and older gas furnaces reaching the end of their life, and for those we're usually talking about a first ducted heat pump or furnace install rather than swapping one AC for another.

Salt air is the other thing that makes the coast different, and it's not something I gloss over.
