LG in Pacifica
Pacifica is the one city on this list where the ocean itself is the main factor in how I spec and service an LG system. Homes in Rockaway Beach, Linda Mar, and the Manor sit close enough to the water that wind-driven salt spray reaches the outdoor coil and cabinet, and that is a real corrosion problem, not a cosmetic one. It eats at the aluminum fins, the cabinet screws, and the exposed wiring terminals faster than a normal Bay Area install ever sees. I plan around that from the first estimate rather than treating a Pacifica LG install like any other coastal-adjacent job.
A lot of Pacifica's older beach cottages and bungalows also never had ductwork, similar to Daly City, so ductless retrofits are common here for the same room-by-room reason. The difference is what I spec for the outdoor unit. I look for placement that keeps the condenser out of direct salt spray where the lot allows it, and I flag corrosion-prone spots for more frequent coil cleaning up front so the homeowner knows what maintenance actually looks like this close to the water.
LG's ductless electronics hold up fine against the salt air itself when the unit is protected reasonably. What fails faster out here is hardware: fasteners, exposed terminal connections, and coil fins, not the control board or the inverter.
LG work we do in Pacifica
Coil and cabinet corrosion from salt air. Outdoor units near Rockaway Beach and Linda Mar corrode faster than units a mile or two inland. We clean the coil, check fin condition, and replace corroded fasteners and cabinet hardware before they become a bigger problem than the part itself.
Ductless retrofits in older beach cottages. Many of Pacifica's older bungalows near the coast have no ductwork at all. We put in LG heads sized to the rooms that get used, the same approach we take in Daly City, but with more attention to where the condenser ends up sitting relative to the wind.
Corroded terminal connections causing comms faults. Moisture and salt working into an exposed low-voltage terminal block between the head and the condenser can look exactly like an electronic communication fault. We check the wiring and terminals for corrosion before assuming it is a board problem.
LG in Pacifica: common questions
Can I still get someone out here without a long drive, or does Pacifica get skipped?
Does the salt air mean an LG system won't last as long here as it would inland?
My outdoor unit is only two years old and already looks rusty. Is that normal?
