LG in Daly City
Daly City's housing stock is mostly Doelger-built rowhouses and stucco duplexes from the late 1940s and 50s, packed tight across Westlake and the streets off Junipero Serra. A lot of these homes never had central ductwork. The original heat source was a wall furnace or a small floor furnace, and cooling was never part of the plan because the fog holds temperatures down most of the year. When a homeowner here wants real climate control room by room, running new ducts through a finished rowhouse with shared walls is a bigger job than most people expect, so ductless is usually the more sensible path.
That is where LG fits. A compact head on the wall, a slim line set run along an exterior wall or through a closet chase, and one outdoor condenser can carry two or three rooms in a house this size. I size the system to the rooms that actually get used rather than trying to condition the whole floor plan, since most of these homes were never designed for whole-house airflow in the first place. The tradeoff I tell every LG customer here is the same one everywhere: when something goes wrong, it is usually electronic, a board or a sensor or a signal fault between the head and the condenser, not a simple mechanical part.
We also cover Brisbane, just over the hill from Daly City's northern edge, on the same route. Brisbane's housing sits in a similar era and has the same ductwork gap, so the ductless conversation there looks about the same as it does in Westlake or Original Daly City.
LG work we do in Daly City
Ductless installs where there was never any ductwork. Most of the rowhouses off Westlake and Serramonte ran on a wall furnace with no ducts anywhere in the house. We put in an LG head per room instead of trying to retrofit duct runs through a finished rowhouse with shared walls, and route the line set along the exterior or through an existing closet.
Condenser placement on narrow side yards. Side yards on these tract lots can run two or three feet wide. We check the legal setback, the noise the compressor will put against the neighbor's wall, and whether we can service the unit later before we ever put a number on the estimate.
Head-to-condenser signal faults. The most common LG service call here is a head that stops responding to the outdoor unit or throws a communication error. I check the wiring first, then the sensor, then the board, in that order, because guessing at a board swap wastes the customer's money.
