Mitsubishi in Martinez
Martinez splits cleanly into two HVAC worlds, and Mitsubishi belongs to one of them. The historic downtown core is full of early-1900s Victorians and bungalows, many with no existing ductwork at all. Cutting central air into those houses is invasive and expensive. A Mitsubishi ductless mini-split adds cooling and modernizes heating with only small line-set penetrations, which is why it's our usual recommendation for that part of town.
The post-war tract homes on the east side are a different conversation. Those mid-century houses already have ducts, and when the ducts are in decent shape a standard ducted heat pump is the better value than going ductless. We'll price the ducted replacement first on those homes and only move to Mitsubishi ductless if the duct system is past saving. Sitting near the Carquinez Strait, Martinez runs cooler than the inland Diablo Valley most summers, so equipment here sizes down and runs efficiently a good part of the year.
One thing we tell Martinez owners straight: Mitsubishi is the right call for the historic core, but it isn't the cheapest path on a house that already has good ducts. We don't push ductless where central makes more sense. We do put both options on the written estimate when a home could reasonably go either way.
Mitsubishi work we do in Martinez
Ductless retrofit on no-duct downtown homes. For a downtown Victorian or bungalow with no ductwork, we install a Mitsubishi mini-split, single-head for a small home or multi-zone for a larger one. The line set runs through an exterior chase or a closet wall rather than new duct runs, so we add full climate control without opening plaster ceilings.
Multi-zone for older homes with awkward layouts. Some downtown homes have been added onto over the decades and have rooms a single system can't balance. We'll run a Mitsubishi multi-zone, one outdoor condenser feeding heads in the rooms that need them, and size the condenser to the actual combined load rather than the head ratings stacked up.
All-electric heating conversions. Martinez owners moving off gas often want heating from the same ductless system. Mitsubishi heat pumps handle our mild winter design temps with room to spare, and the Hyper-Heat line adds margin if you want it. We run the cost comparison against your existing PG&E bills at the estimate.
Service on existing Mitsubishi units. We diagnose and repair Mitsubishi units already installed in Martinez homes: error codes, low refrigerant charge, drain clogs on wall and cassette heads, outdoor fan or control-board faults. Parts come through Mitsubishi distribution, so we confirm availability and lead time before scheduling the repair.
