Tempstar is the value tier in ICP's lineup under Carrier Global, Carrier and Bryant engineering without the Carrier sticker price. Redwood City has enough housing variety that the value tier earns its place in different parts of town for different reasons. In Friendly Acres and the flats off Woodside Road, it's older single-story ranch homes with original ducting. Out in Redwood Shores, it's 1980s and 90s townhomes built on the bay with tight, already-ducted mechanical closets.
The Redwood Shores townhomes are close to identical from unit to unit, so once we've sized one Tempstar system correctly for a floor plan, the neighbor two doors down is usually the same job. The mechanical closet space is the constraint there, not the load calculation, since the units are built to standard specs. Friendly Acres and the older flatland tracts are a different story, more variation in duct condition after decades of patches, so we check that before quoting a straight equipment swap.
