LG in San Jose
San Jose has the widest housing mix in the region, and LG fits two specific corners of it well. The first is the Eichler problem. Original mid-century Eichlers across Willow Glen and Fairglen were built with radiant-slab heat and zero ductwork, and most of those slabs are dead and uneconomic to repair. A ductless multi-zone heat pump is the standard answer there, and LG's Art Cool heads suit homes where the open ceilings and clean lines matter to the owner. LG is one of several brands we use for these; the right one depends on layout and budget.
The second corner is summer cooling. San Jose runs warm through the season and pushes well into the 90s in stretches, so cooling drives equipment selection on almost every project. For newer infill and ranch homes where someone wants to cool a primary suite or an addition without expanding the central system, a small LG multi-zone covers it with good zone control and the app most owners actually like using.
Where LG is less of a fit is the straight ducted replacement on 1990s-and-later stock with intact ducts. There we more often land on Daikin or Mitsubishi for a ducted heat pump, because their cold-weather performance specs and parts pipeline are deeper for that kind of system. The honest read on LG: the electronics and app are a strength, the board-driven diagnostics are the cost of that, and we say so before we quote.
LG work we do in San Jose
Eichler ductless retrofits. We retrofit LG multi-zone heat pumps into Eichlers where the radiant slab failed. Heads mount to preserve the open-ceiling architecture, and the condenser tucks into a side yard out of sightlines. Sizing is done off a real load calc, not the old slab's rating.
Single-zone cooling for primary suites and ADUs. On ranches and infill homes, an LG single or dual head cools a bedroom suite, ADU, or garage conversion without touching the central system. We handle the line set, the disconnect, and the condensate, and set up the app control before we leave.
Inverter and comms diagnostics. LG service calls usually start with an error code: a head-condenser comms fault or an inverter board issue. We pull the code, verify whether it is wiring, a sensor, or the board, and source the right part. We do not throw boards at a code we have not confirmed.
Multi-zone balancing after install. On multi-head LG setups, the most common follow-up is one zone overshooting while another lags. We tune the head settings and verify refrigerant charge per branch so each room actually holds its setpoint through a hot San Jose afternoon.
