Friedrich in San Jose
Friedrich's lineup runs to ductless mini-splits, PTAC and through-the-wall units, and higher-end room AC. San Jose has the widest housing mix in the region, and the place Friedrich fits cleanly is the no-ductwork home. Original Eichlers across Willow Glen, Cambrian, and Fairglen were built with radiant slabs and open ceilings, no ducts at all, and summers here run hot with stretches past 100. A real cooling load and nowhere to put a duct is the ductless use case.
We use Friedrich ductless for single-zone and small multi-zone jobs: a head in a primary bedroom, an ADU or garage conversion, an addition off the back of a ranch. The condensers tuck into a side yard out of view, and wall heads keep the Eichler ceilings intact. For larger Eichler retrofits where we're putting heads in four or five rooms, we more often spec Mitsubishi or Daikin because their multi-zone branch-box ecosystems and local parts depth are deeper. We're clear about where Friedrich's lineup tops out next to those two.
Friedrich also makes sense in San Jose light-commercial and in-law settings, the small office suite or the backyard unit where a single dependable zone matters more than a sprawling system. We put it in where it's the right tool and recommend something else when it isn't, with the reasoning on the estimate.
Friedrich work we do in San Jose
Eichler and no-duct ductless installs. On radiant-slab Eichlers we mount Friedrich wall heads that respect the open ceilings and run line sets where they won't break the architecture. The dead copper-in-slab radiant gets abandoned, not chased. Single zone for one room, small multi-zone for a few.
ADU and garage-conversion cooling. San Jose's ADU boom means a lot of backyard and garage units that need one clean zone. Friedrich single-zone ductless handles the cooling and the mild heating these spaces need, with the condenser sited to keep it off the neighbor's fence line and within setback.
Heat load sizing for hot summers. San Jose sees triple digits in the worst weeks. We size Friedrich heads to the room's actual load, west-facing glass included, so the unit isn't short-cycling on a 100-degree afternoon or undersized for the hottest stretch of the year.
Mini-split service and refrigerant checks. On installed Friedrich ductless we service condensate lines, clean blower wheels that load up with dust, and verify charge. Low charge shows up as weak cooling in August; we leak-check rather than just topping off and sending you a bill that comes back next summer.
