Heil in San Jose
Heil is ICP's value ducted line, near-identical to Tempstar and Comfortmaker under the same parent, with parts that cross over between them. In San Jose, where summers run hot and push past 100 on the worst stretches, cooling load drives equipment selection on almost every project. Heil's ducted ACs and heat pumps fit the large stock of 1990s and later San Jose homes that already have working ductwork and just need the equipment replaced at end of life.
Where Heil does not fit is the Eichler problem. The mid-century homes in pockets across Willow Glen, Cambrian, and Fairglen were built with radiant slabs and no ducts, and the right answer there is almost always a ductless mini-split, which is not Heil's lane. We don't try to force a ducted brand into a house with nowhere to run ducts. For the ranches and split-levels across Almaden and West San Jose, and the post-2000 infill in North San Jose, a Heil ducted system is a sensible mid-market replacement.
The honest tradeoff: San Jose summers genuinely tax equipment, and Heil's value-tier compressors and single-stage cooling work harder on the hottest weeks than a premium two-stage or inverter unit would. For a homeowner who wants the lowest install cost and is fine with a standard-efficiency system, Heil delivers. For someone chasing the quietest, most efficient cabinet through a long South Bay summer, we show the step up to Daikin or Carrier on the estimate and let the numbers decide.
Heil work we do in San Jose
Full AC and furnace replacement on 20-plus-year systems. On 1990s San Jose homes with intact ducts, we replace failing condenser-and-furnace pairs with a matched Heil system sized to the cooling load. We test the ducts first; San Jose's heat punishes leaky returns hard.
Heil ducted heat pump conversion. With Bay Area air-district rules tightening gas furnace replacement later this decade, more San Jose homeowners are converting at end of life. A Heil ducted heat pump holds capacity through San Jose's mild winter design conditions and cools through the summer.
Condenser fan motor and capacitor failures. Summer heat takes out run capacitors and condenser fan motors on aging Heil and Tempstar condensers first. We stock the shared ICP parts and prioritize these calls during heat waves so the house gets cooling back the same day.
Refrigerant leak diagnosis on older units. Plenty of older San Jose systems still run R-22, which is expensive and uneconomical to keep feeding into a leaking unit. We pressure-test, find the leak, and tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it or whether a Heil replacement is the better spend.
