Tempstar in Albany
Tempstar is the value nameplate under Carrier Global's ICP umbrella, the same platform underneath Carrier and Bryant. It's a ducted brand at its core, and Albany is about as unducted as a city gets. It's 1.8 square miles of compact 1920s to 1940s stucco and wood bungalows on small lots along the Marin Avenue grid, almost all of them built with wall furnaces and no central ducting.
Opening up a small Albany bungalow to run ductwork rarely makes sense against the cost, which is why ductless is the standard answer here instead of Tempstar.
