San Bruno sits in a wind gap. Air gets pushed through the low point between San Bruno Mountain and the hills to the south, and it does not let up much, especially in the afternoon. Homes up in Rollingwood and Crestmoor sit right in that path, built on slopes with view lots that leave the outdoor condenser exposed on a bracket or a small pad instead of tucked against a house.

That wind matters for the value ductless and PTAC line more than it does for a premium system, because a Comfort-Aire outdoor unit has less mass and a lighter cabinet. Constant wind loads a mounting bracket harder over years, and it blows debris, leaves, grit, small trash, into the condenser fins faster than it would in a sheltered yard. None of that means the unit fails early, it means we mount it right the first time and check the fins on service calls instead of assuming a clean install with no wind exposure.

Condenser fin cleaning after wind-blown debris. Constant wind pushes leaves and grit into condenser fins faster here than in a sheltered inland yard. A clogged coil looks like a failing unit, weak cooling, longer run times, when it's really just restricted airflow. We clean the coil before we quote any part replacement.
