Climate. San Carlos sits in the same mild, marine-influenced band as the rest of the mid-Peninsula. Morning fog is common and usually burns off by midday, summers stay mild, and winters rarely see a hard freeze. Heating is the load that runs most of the year. Cooling is real but modest, and equipment sized for a hotter inland climate almost always ends up oversized here.

The Laurel Street corridor downtown carries older mixed-use and restaurant buildings alongside residential blocks off Alameda de las Pulgas, mostly 1940s through 60s construction. The east side toward the Caltrain tracks and Highway 101 has an older industrial and light-commercial stretch, warehouse-style buildings that need their own approach to rooftop and packaged equipment.

East of the Caltrain tracks toward Highway 101, San Carlos still has a working stretch of older industrial and light-commercial buildings, and those calls are a different job entirely: packaged rooftop units, commercial-grade thermostats, and equipment access that a residential ladder truck isn’t set up for.
