Lennox in Richmond
Lennox builds some of the highest-efficiency ducted equipment on the market, and that premium pays off in places that run their AC hard all summer. Richmond is not really that place. With bay fog keeping summer highs in the 60s and low 70s, the cooling load on most Richmond homes is light, and a top-tier Lennox condenser would spend most of the year idling. When a Richmond home already has a working Lennox furnace or air handler, we keep it running. When it is time to replace, we are honest that a mid-tier heat pump usually serves this climate better than paying for SEER numbers you will not use.
There is also a parts reality with Lennox you should hear up front. A lot of their components are proprietary, which means a failed control board or blower module can sit on a longer lead time and cost more than the equivalent part on a Goodman or Carrier. In a heating-first city like Richmond, where the furnace is the workhorse, that tradeoff matters. We will service the Lennox you have, and we will tell you plainly when a proprietary part on an aging unit pushes the math toward replacement instead of repair.
For Richmond replacements we more often install heat pumps. Winters here never stress a heat pump's cold-weather range, so the cleanest path on an end-of-life furnace is usually a ducted heat pump or, in Point Richmond and older stock without ducts, a ductless system. If you specifically want Lennox, we will quote it and lay out the parts tradeoff so the decision is yours.
Lennox work we do in Richmond
Servicing existing Lennox furnaces. Most of our Lennox work in Richmond is service, not installs. We handle ignitor and flame sensor faults, blower issues, and the control board diagnostics that Lennox systems are prone to as they age. On any furnace past 18 years we run a heat exchanger inspection and CO test before recommending more repair money.
Honest repair-versus-replace on proprietary parts. When a Lennox control board or variable-speed motor fails, the proprietary part can mean a longer wait and a higher price than a comparable component on other brands. We price the part, check lead time, and put both the repair number and a replacement number on the written estimate so the choice is clear.
Heat pump conversions off old Lennox furnaces. On Richmond homes where the Lennox furnace is at end of life, we usually convert to a ducted heat pump rather than another gas furnace. The mild winters mean standard high-efficiency equipment carries the load, and we submit any applicable rebates as part of the install.
Diagnostics with a credited fee. We charge $75 to diagnose a Lennox system, and that credits toward the repair when it runs over $200. New installs carry a 10-year parts and labor warranty; repairs carry a one-year warranty.
