Gree in San Ramon
Gree is one of the largest HVAC manufacturers in the world, building equipment that ships under many labels. The units we install under the Gree name are its own value ductless mini-splits, positioned below Mitsubishi and Daikin. San Ramon is where our shop is, so I'll be direct about where Gree fits and where it doesn't. The bulk of our work here is the 1980s and 90s tract neighborhoods, Windemere, Twin Creeks, Westside, where original gas furnaces and AC are hitting end of life and ducted heat pump conversion is the main conversation. Those are full-house systems, and for them I steer toward premium ducted equipment.
A Gree head makes sense in San Ramon for the smaller, single-zone situation: a converted garage, a backyard ADU, or one of the older 1960s-70s Crow Canyon homes where the ductwork is marginal and a single head beats reworking ducts for one room. The Tri-Valley climate is warmer than the coast, 95-plus is common in July and August, so a mini-split here does real cooling and the heat pump fits the mild winters well. A value head can hold up to that for a single room.
One honest point on the equipment, and one on rebates. Gree's parts and warranty network is thinner than the premium brands, and the control board is the part we tend to replace, so for a whole-house system you'll keep 15 years I'll recommend Daikin or Mitsubishi. On rebates, San Ramon falls in MCE's service area, and MCE has run heat pump incentives; we check what's currently open at the time of your job and handle any paperwork with permits rather than after the fact. For a value zone, Gree is reasonable and we install and service it from right here in town.
Gree work we do in San Ramon
Single-zone ductless on marginal-duct rooms. Older Crow Canyon homes sometimes have ductwork that isn't worth extending for one problem room. We install a single Gree head as a budget alternative to reworking ducts, sized to the room's Tri-Valley cooling load.
ADU and garage conversion heads. Backyard ADUs and converted garages are steady single-head work in San Ramon. A value mini-split gives the space its own heating and cooling off a dedicated circuit. We check the panel capacity before quoting, since older sections sometimes need a sub-panel.
Control board diagnostics with rebate context. The control board is the part we tend to replace on Gree heads. We diagnose, confirm parts availability, and where a value mini-split is part of a larger heat pump project we check what rebates are open and fold any paperwork in with permits rather than after.
Flare-leak repair and recharge. A Gree head losing capacity through the San Ramon summer usually has a flare leak at the connections. We pressure-test the line set, re-flare, evacuate, and recharge to spec rather than topping off.
