Carrier in San Mateo
San Mateo sits on the sheltered side of the Peninsula, and the hills between here and the coast keep out a lot of the fog that Pacifica and Daly City deal with all summer. That makes a real difference to how I spec a Carrier system. Cooling load is not an afterthought here the way it is on the coastside, and a San Mateo Park or Baywood Park custom home with several rooms and a lot of glass can carry a genuine summer AC load.
The city has a wide range of housing, from the larger tree-lined lots in San Mateo Park down to the more modest ranch homes through Sugarloaf and Beresford, and I do not spec the same Carrier system for both. In the bigger San Mateo Park homes, Carrier Infinity's variable-speed staging and zoning earn their keep across multiple rooms and levels. In the smaller Beresford ranches, a straightforward single-stage or two-stage Carrier system usually covers the house without paying for zoning it will not use.
