Tempstar is ICP's value brand, owned by Carrier Global, and it shares a lot of its engineering with Carrier and Bryant. You get a Carrier-family compressor, coil, and control logic at a lower price than the Carrier badge. We're honest about what that means: it's a rebadge, built to a price point, but the parts crossover with Carrier and Bryant is genuinely good, so service down the road is rarely a problem in this area.

Where Tempstar fits in Oakland depends entirely on the house. The hills neighborhoods, Montclair and Piedmont Pines, often already have ducted forced-air and run warmer than the flats, so a Tempstar ducted heat pump or AC slots right into an existing system there. Down in the West Oakland through Rockridge flats, most of the Craftsman stock has no ductwork at all, and we'd usually steer you toward a ductless mini-split before we'd cut new ducts into plaster just to fit a Tempstar air handler.
