Ducane in East Palo Alto
Ducane is Lennox's value line, simpler ducted furnaces and AC systems than premium Lennox, at a lower price, with parts that are typically easier for us to get. East Palo Alto's housing is mostly single-story ranch homes from the 1950s and 60s in neighborhoods like Woodland and Gardens, and a fair number still have their original gas furnace or a basic first-generation replacement that's aging out. A right-sized Ducane system fits that housing stock well, and it keeps the replacement cost proportional to a modest single-zone home.
This is also a city where I see a lot of wall furnaces and window AC units still doing the job in homes that were never ducted to begin with. Converting one of those to a ducted Ducane system is a bigger project, running new supply and return ducts through a house that wasn't built for them, and it's worth pricing against a ductless mini-split option before committing either way.

Before we spec a Ducane replacement on a home with an unfinished crawl space, we check that the ducts and any floor-mounted equipment aren't sitting in standing moisture, because that shortens the life of a control board no matter the brand.

A lot of the furnaces we pull out here are the original unit or close to it, well past the point where parts are getting hard to find on that specific model.
