Bryant is Carrier's value-tier brand, same parent company, a lot of shared hardware, priced below the Carrier name. East Palo Alto's housing stock is mostly single-story ranch homes built in the 1950s and 60s, and a real share of them are still on original wall or floor furnaces with no central ducting at all.
