Locked or dragging condenser fan motor. A seized outdoor fan bearing stalls the motor, which then pulls locked-rotor amps until the breaker opens. We confirm the fan spins freely and check the motor's running amps against its nameplate rating. A motor that's dragging gets swapped out before high head pressure takes the compressor down with it.
Dirty condenser coil raising head pressure. On Woodside's shaded, wooded lots, needles and cones pack the outdoor coil over time. A clogged coil traps heat, head pressure climbs, and the compressor works harder and draws more amps until it trips mid-cycle.
