Maytag in Concord
Maytag HVAC is not the appliance company. The furnaces, ACs, and heat pumps that carry the Maytag name are built by Nortek under license, the same parent that makes Broan and a few other ducted lines. What you are buying is a mid-market, fully ducted system with a dependability reputation and, on a lot of models, a longer parts warranty than the brand sits next to on price. We install and service it, and we are straight about what it is.
Concord is a practical fit for that kind of equipment. Most of the city is 1950s through 80s tract construction across central Concord, Clayton Valley, and the Ygnacio Valley corridor, and a lot of those homes are on their second or third system. When someone is replacing a 20-year-old gas furnace and AC and does not want to spend Daikin Aurora money, a Maytag split system is a reasonable middle. It is a standard forced-air package, so the existing ducts and the existing thermostat wiring usually carry over.
The honest tradeoff is that this is value-tier equipment, not a variable-speed modulating system. In Concord's heat that is mostly fine, a single- or two-stage AC sized correctly to the house handles 95F days without drama. What matters more than the badge is the load calc and the install. We run Manual J on every Concord replacement rather than copying the old tonnage, because oversizing was common on the 90s and 2000s installs we pull out, and a right-sized Maytag will out-comfort an oversized premium unit.
Maytag work we do in Concord
Furnace-and-AC split replacements on aging tract systems. The bread-and-butter Concord job: a 20-plus-year gas furnace and condenser at end of life, swapped for a Maytag split system. We size with a load calculation, reuse the ductwork when it tests sound, and put the BAAQMD Ultra Low NOx furnace spec on the estimate so the permit clears.
Capacitor and contactor failures in summer. Our most common May-to-August call across all brands is a degraded run capacitor, AC running but not cooling, slow start. We stock these for the Nortek-built outdoor units, so a Maytag condenser that quits in a heat wave usually gets back online the same visit.
Heat pump conversions where the gas furnace is done. Concord winters are mild enough that a ducted Maytag heat pump runs efficiently year-round. When the furnace and AC are both failing, converting to a heat pump on the existing ducts can pencil out. We check panel capacity first, since a fair share of older Concord homes need electrical work to support the conversion.
Warranty parts handling. The longer parts warranty on some Maytag models is real, but only if the unit was registered and the failure is documented. We pull the model and serial, file the claim with Nortek, and tell you up front whether a part is covered or whether you are paying for it.
