We install and service Ameristar across the Bay Area. Diagnostic is $99, credited toward any repair, with a written estimate before any work starts. New installs carry a 10-year parts warranty plus a labor warranty (2 years standard, extended to 10 years with our maintenance plan).

Ameristar: common questions

If Ameristar is in the Trane family, is the warranty as good?
Not quite. The budget Ameristar line carries shorter standard factory coverage than the flagship Trane units, so read the registration terms with us so the manufacturer warranty actually sticks. On any new install we do, our own coverage is 10 years parts and labor, which closes most of that gap on the install side.

Is Ameristar's shorter warranty a problem on a replacement?
It's the main tradeoff to know. Ameristar carries a shorter factory parts warranty than Trane or American Standard, even though it shares their parts. When we install it as a new system, our own 10-year parts warranty, with labor at 2 years standard (10 years on our maintenance plan) backs the install. If you want the longer factory term, stepping up to American Standard is the reason to spend more.

Is Ameristar a lesser brand, or is it actually decent equipment?
It's genuine Trane and American Standard hardware sold under a budget badge with simpler controls and shorter factory coverage than their flagship lines. For a house with sound ductwork and a homeowner who wants a working system at a fair price, it's a legitimate choice. We're an independent shop, not a factory-authorized Ameristar dealer, and we'll always tell you plainly where the budget tier is the right call and where it isn't.

What's the diagnostic fee, and is a written quote actually written down?
The diagnostic is $99, credited toward the repair. Yes, you get an actual written quote before any work starts, not a verbal number, and we're available seven days a week.
